ABOUT MY REVIEWS:
If I rated something I haven't reviewed, I probably only listened to it once or twice. For a long time I wanted to only rate things I review so my Most Recent tab would be reviews, but I'm struggling to keep track of what non-rap albums I want to go back to and review these days so I'm not going to do that anymore.
Most of the time, a song I have no real opinion of is graded with a 3, which is why it's my most common score. Otherwise, Run That Shit's description explains everything else. Listed below is a breakdown of the scale I use for categorizing an album's overall song score, which I borrowed from CokeMachineGlow because they no longer use it and I always liked it.
DON'T EVEN BOTHER:
0 - 19%: Painful
20 - 29%: Terrible
30 - 39%: Poor
40 - 49%: Nearing average
BE WARNED:
50 - 54%: Average
55 - 59%: Slightly above average
60 - 64%: Good; serious flaws
TRY IT:
65 - 69%: Good; detracting problems
70 - 74%: Impressive; well above average
75 - 79%: Solid; few major reservations
BUY IT:
80 - 84%: Great; repeated listens suggested
85 - 89%: Exceptional; repeated listens demanded
90 - 95%: Best of decade
96 - 100%: Best of genre
ALSO, as of October 2016, I figured I should clarify what an individual song rating means to me now that I have it fully figured out (eight years later, I know!) and am applying this logic to any new reviews and any re-assessments.
1 - Actually painful to finish. Leaning towards zero is unimaginably awful, leaning towards 2 means I laughed or smiled at some point at how bad it was, or there was maybe one line or portion of the beat I could find some minor joy in.
2 - Not just boring, but stupid or grating. Leaning towards 1 means it becomes actually infuriating as the song goes on, while leaning towards 3 means it was practically a bland, ordinary song except for a couple things that almost immediately turned me off of it.
3 - Boring primarily, sometimes unoriginal in nearly every way. Leaning towards 2 means that it also has some really, really bad ideas on it, while leaning towards 4 means that I personally enjoy the hell out of the song even if I might not recommend it to anyone.
4 - I'd recommend this song to anyone who's a fan of the artist. Leaning toward 3 means that it's not exactly unique, it's just well done with some minor flaws or unoriginal thought. Leaning towards 5 means while it may not be an all-timer, it's an incredibly memorable or impactful song for me.
5 - A favorite from the record and the artist. Leaning towards a 4 means that it may technically not be a perfect song and I can accept any complaints you might have about it but I'm also going to plug my ears while you talk. A perfect 5 means you can kindly fuck right off if you disagree.

It's always a treat when you post a review here. I love reading them and your track ratings!
Of those, I am fond (but don't love): Elzhi ("Fire Rmx" is, well, fire), Black Milk, Flying Lotus, Q-Tip ("Won't Trade" xoxo), Atmosphere, Jake One (some great bass-lines). As a beats person, the Killer Mike one never interested me much (and I've tried plenty), plus a few others.
That being said, some stuff I don't know or should re-evaluate. Long weekend goals!
