At the time this came out, it was a blast to play through. However in present day, this game has aged quite poorly.
- Non-cutscene animations look quite unfinished - The voice acting is pretty mediocre - Visuals look worse than a Wii game
Although the free roam and different endings are pretty cool.

I actually don't get the hate for this game some people have. Yeah it is a bit generic, the story is crap, the characters are generic, and the game does feel like it borrows a lot from others. But damn, this game is just fun to explore and glide around with your character while messing around. I remember playing this the Summer it came out with my friend when we rented it. Later that year on my birthday I actually replayed it on hard and platinumed the trophies. Infamous is a basic super hero game, you get electric powers and fight generic enemies in a post apocalyptic World. You go through a pretty linear quest system where you complete one objective than are guided towards a next. The game doesn't really have a whole lot of content, the side quests are really minimal and basic enemy killing objectives. The game itself though gameplay wise is fun enough, you have some cool powers and it just feels satisfying killing enemies with your powers and gliding around. The enemies are kind of generic, but they aren't the worst I've seen. The story is bad and has a really dumb twist but the story isn't in your face enough to be annoying. And the characters are all pretty bland except Zeke who is just annoying, but they really don't have enough dialog to even get on your nerves too much.
The game doesn't drag out too long and has enough areas to explore and powers that it doesn't get super boring. The morality system in this game is kind of dumb though and you basically choose to be good or evil by arbitrary decisions and it basically just means do you like the color red or blue better, since being good or evil doesn't impact much. Infamous isn't a great game by all means and there are many better games, and the sequel of Infamous is arguably better, but I didn't find this original that bad and it had plenty of fun moments and collectibles that made it worth playing.

Upon playing Infamous on release, I found that the positive critical reviews had lead me down a wrong path. The game is a perfect example of something being less than the sum of its parts. Infamous stood out to me as a pastiche of popular games I had already been playing. or those popular in recent times. Instead of being pulled into the eclectic gameplay and storyline of this game, instead I played a little game of count the rip offs. From memory I came up with: The sandbox city of Grand Theft Auto, the force powers of Force Unleashed, the Good/Evil path system of Fallout 3, and the acrobatics of Assassin's Creed, to name the obvious ones. Wrap it all up with an undeveloped lead character that I didn't care about, a predictable and generic plot, and dull, brown and grey visuals that make up a city that lacks in character. Infamous was more memorable for just "borrowing" a bunch of other ideas that worked in other hit games and never trying to say anything for itself or break new ground. None of these stolen elements work any better than the games they were lifted from, so I couldn't see the point of bothering to finish this game, and swiftly gave up on it after a few days play. Fusing lots of different types of gameplay into one game does not equal originality. To try and outdo the glorious sandbox environment and smooth gameplay of GTAIV almost a year after it's release was perhaps brave, but mostly foolish. Infamous was just a failed mish mash of a game to me that really wasn't as fun or lasting as its diverse gameplay must have fooled critics into believing. I saw right through it from day one.
