Doom

This is an excellent follow-up to the original two iconic Doom games. It perfectly maintains the spirit of those games, with a Satanic sci-fi setting, fast-paced gameplay, no reloading, no regenerating health, buckets of gore, and a soundtrack ranging from atmospheric electronica to pounding metal. Yet it doesn't feel like a straight-up remake. The experience is modernized, but only to an appropriate amount.

One little nitpick though; in the console version, the UI is scaled too tiny for TVs (mine is 32-inch and it can still sometimes be a little hard to see), and there's no way to change it that I'm aware of.

Pra definir em uma palavra, alucinante. Acho que nunca fiquei tão louco de adrenalina com um jogo. E isso se deve ao level design impecável, arsenal lotado de armas excelentes, inimigos extremamente fortes que se equilibram durante o combate e a trilha-sonora espetacular.

Talvez isso mude com o tempo, mas não consigo encontrar um único grande defeito nesse jogo.

this game makes you feel really cool

Fun, pure fun.

This is my first “Doom” after the original, and I was surprised to get such a similar feel despite the obvious graphic updates. The core of gameplay remains pretty much unchanged. It’s a frenetic and intuitive first-person shooter that needs more nerves than technique. You have to keep running and jumping around while trying to be as accurate as possible. They introduced a “glory kill” system that is pretty exciting at first, but as you can glory kill pretty everything that moves, the dynamics grow old pretty fast.

While the weapons and enemy variety felt just right, the level design is a little monotonous. Especially in the first few levels, we have some dull exploration sections and empty hallways that brought down the pacing a little. I don’t think anyone was seriously looking forward to the plot, which is just a bunch of dialogues for the sake of it.

Not a masterpiece but a great deal of fun.
