SSX 3

Back when EA still cared about anything other than money they gave us this treasure of a game. It's mechanically sound, plenty of game modes and it' a worthy cultural artifact of the early 00's, happier times. It just has the best vibes.

In my opinion the best SSX game ever made.
The characters, the soundtrack, the levels, the tricks, the fashion, the way the music is integrated in the gameplay (mindblowing for it's time and still holds up really well), the scoring system (I love the `long grab` and `stalled flips` mechanics, that entice you to play more stylishly). Furthermore, the sound FX are amazing, and DJ Atomika and Radio BIG bring so much flavour to the experience.

I see people criticizing the open world aspect but I think it doesn't get in the way of the game at all, and it fleshes out the world nicely, going from camp to camp to see if you can get different gear for your rider to look fresh, tricking along the way.
I've poured so many hours in this game and I still replay it every other year or so.

Apparently, the creator of the series, Steve Rechtschaffner, is working on a new
Snowboarding IP, along with some of the team that worked on the SSX games. So keep your eyes peeled for that. Look up "Project Gravity" if you want to read more.

the only "xtreme sports" game that really rivals tony hawk. super addictive gameplay. huge map. you get a lot of mileage out of this thing brah, put this in your ps2 collection pronto.

Nothing really wrong with this, I suppose, it just suffers from the typical problem of the new open-world framework messing with the beautiful unity of the original linear vision. Freeform boarding down the mountain is fun, but for linking missions together? Otherwise, a fine addition to SSX.
