Solid mech gameplay attached to a dystopian setting with a sci-fi story inspired by works such as Dune and Evangelion.

Revolutionary for the looter shooter genre, but a very dull and empty world with a pretty uninteresting story and expansions that make me want to pull my hair out.

Amazing playable characters, amazing loot, hours of gameplay to be had from this game if you love grinding to make a murder machine. Dragon Keep is an amazing expansion as well. This game's biggest fault is it's extremely restrictive end game where the difficulty sky rockets and builds need to be optimized very strictly.

Really bad story with really bad characters. The gameplay is largely an upgrade to the second games, however this games playable characters aren't nearly as fun to me personally. (Haven't gotten around to the expansions yet.)

This game deserved way better. Very fun playable characters with an awesome setting. However the studio that made this game closed mid-way through the games content cycle, leading to only one major expansion being released and barely any end game content. This game's major fault is a complete lack of anything to do once you beat the game.

Good for not just it's extremely influential multiplayer, but also it's style, settings, level design, and more grounded story that would make this game's single player stand out amongst the derivative and overly bombastic first person shooters that would be influenced by it.

Probably one of the most dark and gritty depictions of the second World War through video games as a medium. This and Modern Warfare are the pinnacle of the CoD franchises singleplayer.

The first metroidvania I have played, but it's not hard to see why this game is so highly praised. Going through Dracula's castle in this game gives the same feeling as exploring a well curated vast open world in other games, except focused into one smaller area. The balance of this game is questionable and you'll never really feel like you're in danger in this game, but it's still a fun time.

As far as the open world goes, the activities in this game are almost Ubisoft levels of boring, but the world building and extremely strong side quests help out a lot to break up that monotony. Not only that, but Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 update did wonders for this games gameplay and story.

Dark Souls 2011
Great for what it is and when it came out, and it still holds up today. However the bosses in this game have been outclassed as Fromsoft kept making souls games, and the last few hours of this game are still abhorrent due to time constraints during this game's development.

Overhated, but there's still so much objectively wrong with this game. The notoriously bad hitboxes, tedious combat encounters, extremely easy and boring bosses, and questionable level design. Not only that but the sheer amount of content in this game, even without the expansions, means that not everything in this game is going to be worth playing over again on repeat playthroughs. However this game still has some really fun builds, the best NG+ system in the franchise, and a lot of other great moments like some actually decent bosses and levels. If you can look past all the jank of this game, there's definitely still a lot here to appreciate.

Controversial among more hardcore Fromsoft fans, a lot of people praise this game for it's weapons and amazing bosses, while others dislike it for it's ugly and muted color palette, being extremely linear, and starting the trend of games like these largely becoming games of "Dodge, R1, Dodge, R1, Dodge, R1." I'm personally part of the crowd that loves this game to death, I've replayed it the most out of the Dark Souls trilogy, and it has some of my favorite bosses in the franchise.

The remake is one of the greatest looking video games I've ever played from a realism standpoint. Never played the original so I can't compare the large aesthetic changes. However the gameplay from what I know, has largely been unchanged. The bosses are extremely easy by modern standards, the level design is simple and straightforward, and world tendency is a cool idea of a mechanic, but is ultimately poorly executed and can also just be ignored entirely.

The final act of this game is god awful and Nightmare is one of the worst bosses in any video game ever. Reused bosses are also a big problem with this game since none of them are really that fun. However the gameplay was and still is very strong, and this games gothic style and horror atmosphere make this game still worth playing today.

Capcom isn't really a company known for their amazing stories or anything, but this game's story stands out for actually being relatively strong. Takes everything good about the first game's gameplay and makes it even better. Introduced the style system, has some great boss fights, amazing style and atmosphere. Add on top of that a playable Vergil in the special edition, and this is one of Capcom's greatest games ever.

The most content in any DMC game to date probably. You can play as Nero, Dante, Vergil, Trish, and Lady, all in the main story or the series signature Bloody Palace mode. The second half of the main story ends up holding this game down a lot as it ends up being pretty much the same exact game as the first half, except in reverse, which is actually a lot worse than it sounds.

Reused bosses with entire levels dedicated to them in an already pretty short story mode hold down a game that's pretty much amazing in every other aspect. The best gameplay in these games so far, and although there's only three good playable characters (I hate playing as V), this is still another high for the franchise.

Doom 2016
A good return to the franchise's roots after Doom 3. This game kinda drags on a little bit too long for me personally, and the story isn't really all that interesting enough for it to be brought up as much as it does, but this game still is a lot of fun.

Doom 64 1997
Extremely impressive given the technical limitations and storage space of N64 cartridges. Story wise, this is Doom Guy becoming the psychopath he is in DOOM 2016 and onward. Out of the original three games of DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 64, this one's probably my favorite. Amazing atmosphere and style with a great use of color and some really great level designs, also the Unmaker is awesome.

An improvement upon DOOM 2016 in every way. Story parts are extreme and entertaining (don't confuse me with saying that it's anything really good), everything in this games combat loop falls together perfectly like a puzzle, and it's extremely fast paced and sometimes difficult. Some people complain there's too much going on with the combat in this game, but I never had this issue, everything in this game feels well thought out and plays amazingly.

Elden Ring 2022
Man does this game fall apart on repeat playthroughs. 70% of the bosses in this game are just regular enemies you'll find in the open world, and this game's balance is all types of screwed up. If you're doing an INT build then I really hope you like Carian Slicer because you're going to be using it a lot. That first playthrough of this game is almost unbeatable though and it's not hard to see why this is a lot of people's favorite Fromsoft game.

Really bad gameplay. Really bad story. Really uninteresting dialogue. Really bad expansions. If you like Bethesda RPG's that's fine, but this game is not fun at all for me and ends up just being boring. It's environment and atmosphere are definitely the best thing this game has going for it.

Fallout 4 2015
This game largely changed the aesthetic of Fallout and I hate every single change it made. Just like Fallout 3 this game also has very uninteresting dialogue and an equally uninteresting story. It also loses a lot of the atmosphere that previous Fallout games had. Better gameplay and a better open world end up making this one slightly better than Fallout 3 though.

One of the greatest Action RPG's ever. Amazing story with extremely memorable characters and dialogue leave this game still being discussed a decade later. The combat of this game is equally as jank as Fallout 3's, although much better character building and fun weapons and perks help aid that problem. Also some great DLC with a connected story that ultimately ends on a low note, but still adds a lot of worthwhile content to a game with already a ton of stuff to do.

F.E.A.R. 2005
One of the best single player FPS games ever. This games combat is so ridiculous and over the top, and it's so much fun because of it. Every firefight in this game will end up with enemies turning into mists of blood, and environments totally torn to shreds. Amazing weapons and a shotgun that rivals, maybe even beats, the classic DOOM shotgun. The horror aspect of this game is kind of weak but it does have a strong atmosphere that makes up for it. The story is easily the weakest part of this game but in a game like this, that's the thing that matters the least.

Extremely overstated difficulty, it's really just trial and error, which disappears entirely on repeat playthroughs, although the RNG of this game helps aid that issue. Also a ton of Berserk and Kurt Cobain worship in this game can be kind of jarring. Not to mention all of the surface level shock value that just feels hilarious and unnecessary. There's definitely a lot of cool stuff about this game, and trying to optimize a perfect run of this game on my second playthrough was a lot of fun. The ancient city part of the game is also very cool and the horror of this game ends up becoming a lot more subtle around this point as well.

I really wanted to like this game because of it's amazing setting and the characters that are all unique from each other gameplay wise. However any character can get any ability that another character might have if they kill them, which can be cool but for me it just feels like it gets rid of the point of even having a character select. It's even easier than the previous game and the RNG mechanics are almost removed entirely. This game also has a huge problem with it's identity. Monsters are just lifted directly from Silent Hill with almost no changes to their design. The Human Centipede and Art the Clown from Terrifier make an appearance in this game. One of the playable characters is a very obvious JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference. There's a boss fight with a sergal in a church with organ music playing in the background and a Bloodborne lantern outside of the arena. Not to mention the name of this game, "Termina," alongside the moon looming over the town of this game is also an obvious Majora's Mask reference. Overall this game loses it's fun very quickly, and theres nothing really unique about this game as it's identity is all over the place.

Halo 2 2004
Over the top single player first person shooter action with an extremely corny (in the best way possible) early 2000's alt rock soundtrack, which the Anniversary edition makes even better with it's new renditions of the music. Some parts of this game, especially the later missions, feel a little bit lacking due to this games rushed development. Because of this, the game is also effectively held together with popsicle sticks and glue. Story wise this could have been Halo at it's best, at least when the story is being told through Arbiter's perspective. However near the ending, the story begins to fall apart and would need a weaker followup to conclude the story because of the time constraints this game had.

Amazing neo-noir atmosphere to this game. The best parts of this game are roaming the streets as Rookie trying to figure out what happened to your team, while also piecing together Sadie's story on the side. The weakest parts are when you're playing as any other character that isn't Rookie. It's not that they're bad, it's just they don't have the same feeling that you would be getting from Rookie's story.

Not even going to say anything about the weird story direction this game took because the gameplay is bad enough. Even on Heroic everything in this game is so bullet spongey and you will never have enough ammo. This game is a constant battle of attrition where the Famine skull feels like it's permanently enabled. The new art style introduced in this game was also hideous.
