Biography
In 1996, Zomba Label Group completed a deal with Steve Mason to purchase 75% of Windsong Exports and Pinnacle Entertainment, and also 80% of Rough Trade's mid-European operations, including Rough Trade Records GmbH, which operated as the German branch of Rough Trade Records and the parent company to the Rough Trade Deutschland label. Zomba kept the Rough Trade GmbH name for three years, then decided to rename the company Zomba Records GmbH. This move coincided with the establishment of Zomba Distribution, formed from the consolidation of the Rough Trade Distribution GSA and Benelux distribution wings.
In 2002, Clive Calder sold all of Zomba to BMG. A year later, restructuring within the company transferred Zomba Distribution and Windsong/Pinnacle to BMG's Arvato division. In 2004, Zomba Distribution changed its name to Rough Trade Arvato.
