Introduction


According to wikipedia, a netlabel is a "record label that distributes its music primarily through digital audio formats (mainly MP3 or Ogg Vorbis) over the Internet... netlabels typically emphasize free distribution online, often under licenses that encourage works to be shared (e.g., Creative Commons licenses), and artists usually retain copyright. Most employ guerrilla marketing to promote their work; few netlabels earn money for participants." For a concrete definition of what constitutes a legitimate netlabel for inclusion in the RYM database, see the Add a label.

There are an ever-growing number of netlabels in the world, but http://www.archive.org/details/netlabels has a reasonable list of them. This wiki-page is designed to list those netlabels that have been added to RYM, so if you want to know what free music RYM's users like, this should be the place to start. Please feel free to add netlabels that are on RYM to this page, and if they're not - go ahead and add them to the database!
