A quick look at your sources, at least the ones I can see, still don't quite seem to corroborate what you're saying. It would take an actual trip to my uni's library to have a proper look, but, ignoring the wiki articles, which can't make their minds up on exactly what Parallel Cinema is, the one source you've posted there which I can actually view atm (The Encyclopedia of Hindu Cinema) says very little on what Parallel Cinema actually is, and instead only offers an offhand comment on it. As I've understood it, Parallel Cinema is two things primarily: it is A) a reaction to the sugary 'fake' world often portrayed in popular Bollywood films, and Parallel Cinema instead prefers a 'realistic' portrayal of Indian life, more in tune with Italian Neorealism. Now granted, that would probably encompass most 'serious' films in India, which is why B) is that Parallel Cinema is primarily Bengali. The two films you link to in that source have their primary languages states as Urdu and Hindu, two languages which I believe are not particularly common in the Bengal state. Right now I'm at home and nowhere near my uni library, so I can't properly sit down or do this (nor am I sure I actually want :p) but still.
