I'd agree that the 2003 edit is too big of a difference to say it's the same as the 2002, I'd probably categorise what I saw as the best of 2003 too :).

Had to rush out there to chase the 8 o clock bus from Heuston. I couldn't see my page too well so I ended up tearing in between A and B, which was kind of appropriate for what I thought of A Bride for Rip Van Winkle.

I pretty much agree on A Bride For Rip Van Winkle even though I might have liked it a little more. It's definitely a warmer and less overtly cruel film than All About Lily Chou-chou but it didn't feel as formally radical and adventurous. Plus I felt a little wrong-footed by the film from the start because while it starts with social media being a big driver of the plot it's a lot less less pronounced and vital than in that movie. It felt more like a device than something intrinsic to the story.

Happy Hour though, wow. The first 3 hours are a 10/10 for me undoubtedly but there were aspects in the second half that I loved. Like the long Q&A scene being an inverse of the workshop in the first hour, loosening instead of strengthening the bond between the (now) 3 friends.

I'm kinda curious about Hamaguchi's other movies now, especially their obscurity and oddly low ratings on IMDB.

Great, please keep me updated! Regarding my own work, it's mostly theoretical, by which I mean that I rarely run anything on a computer. If needed, I usually use MATLAB for simulations, although lately I've been starting dabbling with R through R Studio, which appears to be much more widely used in the stat community, and is pretty similar syntax-wise anyway. Anything but Stata really :)

I see you're at Ritrovato! how is it so far? Have you been before? I'm looking to head over for the first time next year :)
