Hey man! Heard neither of those Ellington albums you mentioned. I have free time now, I'll find 'em and say thanks early.
I don't mind the Samba Jazz genre, I can hear the Samba like yesterday's news, but I do understand your complaint. How's that Kenny Barron Trio record? I'll be seeing him at Newport.
You are exactly right about Feat. The boots are the best man, and that Ultrasonic really is a doozy. I saw them three times, but man I wish I had gotten to see Lowell.
Santana was always such a blast in concert. Everybody moving, on their feet. Except the last time, back '94 way. Crowd was lame. Carlos talked too much. And still, it was great. As for the band live, I nabbed this a while back, the Legacy Edition with the 1971 Fillmore show. Damn hot. Thanks for Lotus, I'm listening right now.....
Thanks for your comment. I figured I'd respond here rather than on there, since RYM doesn't give you notifications if someone replies to a comment on a list.
I've not actually thought about podcasts, but I'm more than open to the idea. I just... don't know anything about them. How to do them, where they go, how to get listeners, whether or not there's any money involved... nothing. If you've got any tips or anything, feel free to let me know.
Hey, wait a minute, isn't it the Americans who are always meddling in other countries' elections and "helping" them elect who the US of A wants to lead that country? How the heck did it happen to us this time, especially by Russia.
I would say that Segovia and De Lucia are both on the Top Tier of guitarists, along with few others. They are both, for example and in my opinion, far "better" than, say Vai or Malmstein.
Well, for starters I would actually place both Hendrix and Garcia in that top tier right along with Paco and Segovia. Both are incredibly expressive and had unique, wonderful tone. You can tell it's Hendrix or Garcia in a few short seconds (while Vai, Malmsteem, and other "shredders" all sound pretty much the same)
Absolutely man, Garcia was one of the best pure musicians I've ever seen. His mastery of his instrument went deeper than most, and the level of genuine, emotional expressiveness in his music was palpable. For me The Dead WERE Jerry Garcia, with a backing band, a great one, but more or less he was the genius of the group.

Yeah!
