Reviews tend to follow the "and this is how I came to have/like/hate this album" style (i.e. many of them are autobiographical - not to everyone's taste, but I'm old enough not to give a shit. sorry) seeing as these days almost every album already has a review. I have an eleventh rating - 5fucking* - those 5* albums that I would risk death to save from a burning building etc.

Ratings are creeping higher and higher, but this is because I've been weeding out a lot of the low rated stuff from my collection. This makes perfect sense to me although for a while I used to worry about having such a top heavy bell-curve set of ratings.


I wish more people would use the thread about gig reviews. Live music is the best way to experience your favourite bands. This is true, don't be deceived by thinking live music is crap because you watched a 30 second clip on you-tube. This thread only gets used regularly by myself and Pambox - 2 people out of thousands of users! C'mon people. My request for a sticky has been ignored sadly. :-(


Just when I was beginning to give up on ever having a decent music conversation with a student at work, I finally worked with someone who said this; "A friend burnt me a copy of this album saying it would change my life. I listened to it and thought if I had to hear it again it would change my life - I'd rather go deaf" ... the album? In the Aeroplane Over the Sea HOORAY!!!

Americans, how come when no one has ever been killed on American soil by someone (in a terrorist attack) from Libya, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Iran and Syria since 1976, do you want to ban them from coming into the US, especially when you consider that since 1976 more than 3,600,000 Americans have been shot by fellow Americans, do you not want to ban guns? 3.6 million shot dead people. That's shameful.

If that was too complicated, how about this then. On the day Trump said "Look at what's happening last night in Sweden. Sweden! Who would have believed this?" That day in Sweden, no one got killed in a violent manner. On that same day in the US 32 people were KILLED as a result of gun shots.
