There is no building in the United States that can be legitimately called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
At no time in American History has popular culture been more superficial and shallow than it is today. - Sluggo714
Supporting modern music of merit has never been more important. - mathompson
"practically all the Hollywood film-making of today is stooping to cheap salacious pornography in a crazy bastardization of a great art to compete for the 'patronage' of deviates and masturbators.": Frank Capra
I kind-of agree with this, especially if we consider "masturbators" more metaphorically to include the thrills that some Philistines get from violence-porn and not just seat-wetters fapping to half dressed tramps.
The Charts that Matter
Music: All Time Albums So much better than the regular RYM chart that has two massively overrated Radiohead records and the awful My Bloody Valentine in the Top Ten.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

Common Dreams
Lotta people ask: What's the BEST decade for music?
The answer: the 1960's, hands down.
Fantastic Jazz, Great Rock and Roll, The Birth of Rock, Psychedelia, Folk of All Kinds, Tropicalia, Blues and the Blues Revival, Motown, Funk, Soul, Bluegrass and Country, and many of the great composers and conductors of the 20th Century were writing and performing high quality work. The first hints of every major genre to follow started in the 60's, including Metal, Prog, Punk, R&B, Reggae and even what's come to be known as "indie" "rap" "electronica" and "hip-hop".
And the best protest music ever written
Marijuana, LSD, Psilocybin, and DMT
They all changed the way I see
But love's the only thing that ever saved my life
