I understand that this is not everyone's cup of tea though and I can't say I'm the biggest fan of it myself since I treasure horror games a lot more for their narratives and atmospheres they bring to the table rather than anything else. Pure shock value and scariness of games (pretty subjective as it is) are a thing of the past for me as nothing really gets under my skin like how it used to anymore.
Not that this is a complaint, it's just something I've happened to observe and learn about myself along this journey...
1. Psychological horror story telling, that's designed around primarily messing with the character/s in said story psychologically. Less directed at the player controlling the character/s,
2. Psychological horror. Anything and everything directly targeting the player controlling the character/s.
The wording could definitely use some reworking, but the general idea's there. Maybe "third-person psychological horror" and "first-person psychological horror" who knows.
