I wouldn't expect everyone to pursue the same interests. But for some of us, music is more than just a backdrop of entertainment. It's a way of life. I do not consider music and entertainment the same thing necessarily (although they are not mutually exclusive). Also, I support the right of anyone to dislike some music, since that shows that you care about music (the line "I like everything" is often the calling-card of the casual music follower), although I like to hear a reasonable explanation to give the opinion some credibility.
And having a sense of one's own limitations and others' perspectives (which some self-absorbed people have blind spots toward) is a good thing in my book.

I'm trying to keep up here and don't often know what I'm doing, but I'll keep trying to acknowledge all the nice and intelligent folks I've bumped into here.
