Party

Genre
Party games are a broad category of multiplayer games which are designed to facilitate social interaction or provide entertainment during a social gathering. Party games are generally designed to be quick to learn for new players, and often have low skill ceilings to provide an even playing field for players of all experience levels. Additionally, party games often include elements of comedy to lighten the mood of a social gathering, although this is not always the case.

Some party games are designed with social interaction as a core gameplay element, whereas others just include light social or competitive elements while remaining accessible to all types of players. The first category includes social deduction games, various types of guessing games, and games in which the goal is to be the funniest. The second category most predominantly includes minigame party games in the same vein of the Mario Party [マリオパーティ] series, which feature collections of competitive and cooperative minigames that are generally meant to be played by multiple people at once. This second category is not exclusive to this kind of game, however, and can often intersect with game show, trivia, and board games, to name a few.
