*After playing endless Jackbox games with my roomies throughout the pandemic, some games over discord, and introducing my family to the series as something to do over the holidays, I feel it's time I review each party pack. I plan on reviewing each party pack, so make sure to check my thoughts on the other games if you're looking for what party pack to try next. I don't rate these games the same as I would a video game because they play closer to board games*
In my last review for party pack 6, I mentioned how it was the first pack that really felt like it was formulaic of its predecessors and how this gives Jackbox a samey feel with its newer releases. While that is true here more then any other pack, for some reason it works here. In this case we have another Quiplash, Champed Up (basically TKO), Talking Points (a modified Patently Stupid), a trivia game, and one oddball game. Despite this sameness this pack is really solid.
Starting with Quiplash 3, not much is changed here minus a really solid version of the final round and the ability to make your own Quiplash questions, but if you liked this game before it's still going to be great.
Champed Up is more or less just TKO but less fun, but it's still an alright time if you don't own TKO. Not much to say here.
Talking Points may be very similar to Patently Stupid, but the lack of control you get as you make up your presentation leads to people needing to be fast on their toes to come up with something cohesive on the fly, making analogies you didn't know you could make. The team effort adds a bit of tension that would otherwise make this too slow paced/easy.
Blather Round may be another trivia game, but it's a fast thinking one that feels like a restricted version of 21 questions. Reading between the lines and trying to figure out what people are trying to communicate is really fun and leads to this one having a lot of replay value.
Sadly, The Devil's in the Details may be one of Jackbox's worst games. I am struggling to even write anything about this game because there's just nothing here. You do tasks to advance as a team while sabotaging each other for personal gain but there's little reason to care for these tasks since they're all fisher price minigames so why should I care about my score. Jackbox is at it's worst when it tries to be a video game and this is a prime example of that in action.
Overall, while it still suffers from being samey, this is probably the best pack of this second era of Jackbox, definitely worth picking up.

The humor is so corny it gives the feeling this game was made for middle school classrooms. There isn't enough alcohol in the world to make these games fun
I disagree. I've played this with 3 different groups of friends, and with various degrees of sobriety. The only sore spot here is The Devil and the Details, since it tends to be a much less goofy, laid-back experience compared to the other games.
