The Passport Records Group grew out of Jem Records flagship label, Passport in the mid 1970s. Faced with financial loses the following decade on the distribution segment, the group was shuttered in 1988, with artists such as Larry Fast of Synergy retaining rights to his recordings following bankruptcy proceedings that had begun in 1989.
