Finally listened to the whole thing and I can't say I was that excited. Paien and Clarissima were maybe the only memorable songs, while the rest just blended together without any creative flair in particular. So far MVII remains the best of the three, imho. But it's Blut Aus Fucking Nord and the album is still overall pretty good, so I'll definitely give it more spins.
It's quite a good movie but just not on par with the previous installments. Andersson's style remains absolutely unique and weird and fascinating and everything else, but it's already starting to feel kinda recycled. Luckily it marks the end of the trilogy; I don't think I would care that much for another movie that looks exactly like these. If you haven't watched anything yet, try with the amazing Songs From the Second Floor[Sånger från andra våningen]!
Well on a mere stylistic level I can't tell any difference between World of Glory and the following movies, they all seem to be made in a rather short span of time, but actually there are almost 25 years... I would go as far as saying that Andersson makes "timeless" movies. Conceptually speaking though it's pretty obvious that World of Glory was just hinting at some themes of the trilogy. If you loved it, you'll go crazy with Songs From the Second Floor!
hello, i've seen you around on RYM and like your taste. i see that you recently saw Inside Out and would like to know your thoughts on it, if you don't mind.
agreed. it's just that their last few efforts have been so comparatively mediocre that i believe some people are overhyping the film simply because it isn't as lackluster. i still enjoyed the film overall, though.
