I'd recommend "In Absentia" and "Deadwing" as albums to listen to.

A few tracks I'd recommend checking out before you decide if it's worth listening to more:

My favourite song is a non album track called "Drown With Me". They do strangely often leave some of their finest material off their albums. This one has got an awesome chord progression, a nice mix of acoustic/electric. It's catchy from the start and only gets more so. I think it's genius when he harmonises over his own voice. And it has one of the coolest outros I've ever heard. The way he sings, without actually singing words creates an awesom effect. It's hard not to sing along.

An earlier more Pink Floyd influenced song I'd recommend listening to is "Dark Matter". It's got that Floydish guitar sound that just sounds like that's the way guitar is supposed to sound.

And an epic more Metal song "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here". After a few listens it should pull you in.

I read your review. I'm not going to go into rant mode because I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I do agree that you do find yourself scratching your head a few times when it comes to what's happening with the current story line.
There is a second arch with only 12 episodes, so it's half the time as the one you watched.
What's a short anime that you recommend do me? I'm almost done with Death Note and I think I'd give that one 9/10. Sailor Moon is my favorite. I've also enjoyed Fruits Basket and Le Chevalier D'Eon if you know those two.

I do plan on making a list similar to yours.
