Open-world sandboxes are not typically my thing, and I honestly expected this to be an exception with the 2D side-scrolling and cool aesthetic.
Unfortunately, it did not live up to that. It felt like more of the same to me, and actually came across to be even more of a slog than 3D open-world stuff. While the limitations of the 2D approach to this can, in theory, open up new worlds and possibilities, my time with the game did not bear any fruit to that. And who knows, maybe if I persisted harder, it would have! But it's such a chore to get through at first that, despite knowing what the possibilities were later on, I could not be convinced to keep pressing on. A shame, because the art style and aesthetic is the biggest single selling point for me, and I imagine for a lot of people it'll be enough of a hook.

I know a lot of people say this game is a ripoff of minecraft, but this is still a very fun game for those who like games similar to minecraft. The concept is similar, but terraria has many more bosses, weapons, potions, tools, ores, etc, than minecraft, making terraria more of a fun adventure game. To progress through this game you need to defeat some bosses that do things such as convert the world's difficulty to "hardmode" allowing access to more bosses, weapons, ores, etc, until you eventually can reach the end of the game and fight the final boss, moon lord. This game overall is a pretty fun experience and for beginners I recommend beating the game in classic mode before trying expert or master mode. Some bosses are noticeably more difficult than others, but each boss allows for a fun experience, so does finding weapons and crafting things such as armor to be able to prepare for more difficult bosses later on in the game. This game is good for anybody who likes adventure games and sandbox games involving bossfights, crafting, and building things.

The best progression in any game ever; slowly working your way from a weakling dying to every little thing to a god who destroys everything in sight is the most satisfying feeling. The developers have put so much soul into the game, not feeling like a generic AAA yearly release but a true labour of love. One of the greatest games of all time.

Música ou Ambientação 4/5 Absolutamente icônica, você não ouvirá um Bohemian Rhapsody ou sei lá nesse jogo, mas o fato de que as músicas são totalmente caracterÃsticas do jogo sempre as lembrará como "música do Terraria" e encaixam muito bem no contexto do jogo. Não direi que as baixei , mas algumas são realmente do nÃvel em que quis escutar fora do jogo.
° Existem muitas referências espalhadas por aà na descrição ou mesmo existência de certos itens e npcs.
° O grind apesar de como na maioria dos jogos pode ser bem chato, acredito que Terraria faz um bom trabalho em inseri-lo na progressão natural do jogo inclusive, alguns itens não são necessários então o fato de que possuem uma chance de aparecer na playthrough incomum podem melhorar a rejogabilidade.

this game is awful singleplayer and worse than any other sandbox game multiplayer. grinding as the 'when all else fails' way of scaling sucks, i do not want to spend 2 hours figuring out im not cut out for a boss just to spend 2 hours in the snow for a slightly better yo-yo. but i understand why people like it. its addicting, like gambling. You could say this about the whole game really. seeing all the flashy 20 minute youtube videos outside the casino can suck you in when they dont remind you that its a 20 hour slog. The direct start and then start of hardmode are the worst. base movement is clumsy and awful and then at hardmode everything takes you to half health in one hit and you have to somehow beat one of three extremely tanky bosses to get gear good enough to actually be able to do the other two. master mode is utter bullshit, expert is not much better, but they lock actual interesting boss patterns behind these so fuck you. I'm still mad at my friends for making me play this and mad at myself for continuing
also wiki games are bad. end of story. just let the guide show you crafting trees and have the bestiary show drops without having to farm the enemy first. actually just make it so that stuff is readily available at crafting stations so the wiki middle man isnt needed at all
Hard not to agree with your criticisms even though I still think this is a great game. The game asks a lot of you and there's no guarantee that you will be rewarded for your time. All the variety in playstyles begs for repeat playthroughs, but it's such a grind-heavy game that replaying through certain sections can get extremely tiresome. After playing through 5-10 times, it feels like a balancing act between some of the most fun I've ever had playing video games and a boring, frustrating grind. It's why I don't plan to come back to it for a good while (watch my friends and I inevitably simp for the next big update).
And yeah, if you're not even having fun with the actual fun parts (which is understandable if your friends started you out in expert/master mode with no prior experience), I can understand hating this game. I have nothing but respect for Re-Logic, they really do try to listen to the fans, but I think some of the game's issues might run too deep for them to fix at this point. Terraria has become such a massive game and it's all built on that RNG philosophy. But who knows, they've surprised me before.
