RYM turned out to be great place for lovers of music and our musings about what is soundtrack of our lives. Its not only about putting our thoughts in order and brain exercise but also a friendship, socializing and recommendations - I have some buddies here that pointed at music I would not know otherwise and they write so well that it inspires and embarrasses me at the same time. Because I was born and raised before Internet made music widely accessible, my perspective and early influences have been shaped with geographical accident of my place of birth - in other words, what I could put my hands on back than. Being grown-up and now in my 40s I find great pleasure in re-visiting old and dusty archive recordings from my homeland and I am trying to explain what they are and once meant. On the other hand, interests often led me to anything from classical, jazz & blues, country and soundtracks to obscure & never-heard cult classics with a nod towards schmaltzy vocal easy-listening that delights me for the sheer joy of being so uncool. I am aware that while avoiding anything trendy or hyped I might miss something that is genuinely interesting, but I will get there sooner or later. I dislike one-sentence reviews and opinions based without any knowledge what effect particular record had in the original time of its release - everything now described as "dated" was modern and cutting edge once.
