Low fantasy
Genre
A fantasy story set either in reality or a fictional world with rational rules as opposed to a fantasy world with its own physics and laws. The fantasy element is typically downplayed and can sometimes blur the line between supernatural and reality. "Low" is not a description of quality but rather a measurement of fantastic or supernatural elements.
While not requirements to be considered Low Fantasy, there are common themes that many Low Fantasy worlds share, such as "gray" morality (as opposed to black and white, which is common in High Fantasy), humans being the dominant race, and a smaller scope that focuses on few individuals rather than saving the world.
