Grid puzzle

Genre
A grid puzzle is a variety of logic puzzle played within a grid. Grid cells are predominantly square-shaped, and the rules for such games widely vary by design. Many grid puzzles have origins that can be traced to paper-based formats, including sudoku and nonogram; these varieties typically challenge players' mathematical, linguistic, or deductive prowess. There are also many examples of grid puzzles whose roots can be traced to video games, such as sokoban.

Not to be confused with logic-grid puzzles, which are a specific variety of elimination grid puzzle where associations between subjects and attributes are made based on clues provided by a scenario and filled out in a matrix.
