hey, thanks for taking the time out to reply to my comment and your compliments! yeah, i can't really say i have a fandom for the ori games, they're good, fun experiences in the moment, but i feel like they are also anti-fandomifiable in a sense. as you said, they're big budget xbox games that as a result are less appealing to an indie crowd.

i think maybe their biggest problem that neither of us mentioned is that they falter w.r.t. writing and characters that sort of prevents people from rallying their fandom. i think something that had very much disappointed me with ori 1 was that all the characters felt very nondescript in terms of any sort of personality, some of them had interesting backstories, but it never goes further than that. i think the lack of dialogue didn't help either, because it doesn't really feel like this game benefits from a mostly-silent narrative.

ori 2 is better on the latter front but still suffers from just... not having really much for someone in a fandom to latch on to. it also probably explains why i see so many light spirit OCs.
