Avid music listener. Favourite era is the sixties.
My music collection ranges from fifties rock 'n 'roll to the swinging & psychedelic sixties and through into the prog-rock and the punk rock seventies.
The eighties was my least favourite decade (all those synthesizers and cold electronic drum beats etc)...although having said that, I did and still do like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.
I enjoyed the Brit-pop scene of the early to mid nineties (an exciting time, with so many great new bands suddenly springing up at once)
I love all the new stuff that's around at the moment too, especially, The Killers, The Kaiser Chiefs, The Zutons, Keane, KT Tunstall, Delays, Franz Ferdinand, Maximo park, Kasabian, Fratellis, Razorlight etc
My collection will only show an album title once (even if I own it on multiple formats) ....unless CD version has bonus tracks of course (which makes it different)
My preferential order is as follows:
1- ORIGINAL CD
2- CD-R
3- VINYL
4- CASSETTE
So for example, if I own Sgt. Peppers on both Vinyl and Original CD...(which of course I do) then only one entry under CD has been made.
My order of preference is based on sound quality alone.
I do understand that an original Vinyl album is much more desirable than a CD-R version of same...but I just can't get past all the "Snap, Crackle and Pop"...and as for cassette tape hiss - don't get me started!
So little by little I'm trying to convert all my old vinyls and tapes to cd-r's (Not getting rid of anything you understand, just downloading & making cd-r copies of any faves so they sound better)
Guide to my ratings:
I tend to find something good in nearly all the music I listen to, which probably explains why my ratings are set slightly higher than the average 2.5
5.0 All Time Classic - Indispensable, one for the desert island
4.5 Nearly There - Just falls short of perfection
4.0 Very Good - Deserving of repeated plays
3.5 Pretty Good - Very listenable, a few really good grooves
3.0 Fair Overall - Ok, but just lacks that little quality
2.5 Distinctly Average - Background music,mainly unmemorable
2.0 Poor/Below Average - Dust magnet,not played very often
1.5 Zzzz! - Uninspiring, most tracks skipped rather than played
1.0 Brrr! - Sets my teeth on edge, may have just one redeeming track
0.5 Yuck! - I can feel the bile rising...May leave this on a park bench and walk away!

Just read your review of MH2 and loved the term "introspective journey". That could mean different things to different people. I think I will use that sometime.
Great to see you writing more reviews, keep up.
