hated this so much i 100%ed it just to make sure i wasn’t tripping. the boredom and futility of the main story is so intense the extra completion bonuses are the only way i was able to get even an ounce of enjoyment out of it. see instead of getting experience points through battling you get money, which you’re meant to spend on more combat materials, which gets you more money, etc. but if you want to find all the hidden doors you have to pay for them, the single factor in the entire game justifying the existence of a currency system to begin with. this is what purgatory feels like. writing is also terrible but the waiting in line gag in 4-6 was funny

makes the feminist part of my brain run in circles like an excited puppy. one of the few gameplay-less games that i think totally justifies its existence. i’m already a huge fan of games that make use of misleading direction and the unconventional horrors of exercising free will, so using these mechanics to build a metaphorical narrative about women’s role in society? (chef’s kiss)

feels mandatory to mention abi wanted me to play all the pmd games and it’s pretty much impossible now to detach any of them from that specific context. this one is simple but good. i played this during a period of deep self-loathing and seeing the partner be so consistently chipper and nice to you made me want to cry at times lol

stresses me the fuck out but in a unique way nothing else can really compare to. with oxygen, fuel, health, and time itself in limited supply, this game is an unparalleled masterwork of building tension, but didn’t quite pay off like i’d hoped
