I've been interested in Jens Lekman for a while, actually, I'd heard favourable comparisons to Belle and Sebastian really liked When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog (the song, not the album) so I'll definitely check that album out. Since I feel obliged to recommend you something in return, if you're interested in getting more into twee, you might like Beat Happening, they're a big part of the American side of the genre. Jamboree is their most popular album, though personally I prefer their debut (where they're at their most primal and fun) and their final album (where they're at their most ambitious), but you can pretty much start anywhere in their discography (maybe avoid Dreamy)

No problem, I hope you enjoyed that album, honestly I felt a little bad because I saw you were listening to that on last.fm the day I recommended it, but it's taken me a few days to listen to this Jens Lekman album (I did end up listening to When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog), so sorry for this late reply! But I think it's lovely, a little hit and miss maybe (that opinion may change as I listen to this more and more), but there's a lovely mood throughout and I especially like his orchestrations, and how he can make them sound majestic and energetic like on the closer, or really lonely and wintery like that lone horn on the title track. So yeah, thanks for encouraging me to listen to this, Tram #7 to Heaven and the title track in particular I'm sure will stay with me

Beat Happening isn't for everyone, but I hope it grows on you with more listens. And I'm a huuuuge fan of all things Rose Melberg, her 90s bands put out some of my favourite records ever, so I'd say it's worth checking her stuff out. Cool that you enjoyed AJJ's second album too, I've personally always had a huge soft spot for their most recent album, but I'm a big fan of all their discography, even when they're at their most immature. I'll check out that Thermals album, by the way. OK, so that story Jens wrote on his blog is incredibly charming, I think I'll bookmark his blog, and I also like that you had your own "Tram #7 to Heaven" to go on. I think I'll have to read some of his lyrics properly too, some stuff stood out to me and you obviously hold him in high esteem so I'll have to have a proper look at it. By the way, I'm guessing the Mountain Goats album you mean is The Sunset Tree? The Mountain Goats are highest priority of "bands whose discographies I need to finish" for me, I've only listened to 4 of their albums but Tallahassee has long been a favourite of mine, so I'd recommend that to you. John Darnielle has some wonderful lyrics, too. I'll follow this up once I listen to some of the other things you've recommended
