For now, my wish lists are as much 'to listen to' and 'to watch' lists as they are 'to own' lists.

My singles ratings are pretty much A-side ratings. I take B-sides into account if I can't decide between .5 intervals.

It's pretty great, I love the grooves on here from the rhythm section, and the horns (or whatever it is) whenever they appear. I think they're both most appealing things about Jit music, so yeah, all around great!

It's very great. Surprised at some the reviews here - dunno what they were expecting. It's true, "Rain in Soho" is massive and songs afterwards are less so, but shit.

What songs of Thee Oh Sees did you like from their live performances? I started with Floating Coffin, which is a nice middle ground of their highest rated record here, Carrion Crawler / The Dream EP, which is frenetic without being too gloomy, and Help which is their most accessible record and is probably the catchiest psychedelic garage rock I've ever heard. I say start with those three, they'll do the trick.

I haven't ever been to a concert before and my concern is exactly the opposite of yours: what if the band live isn't as good as the band in the record? Mostly, the vocals fail live. So I like recordings more. I think with Thee Oh Sees you'll find their records bursting with wild energy, I always find their records fun to listen to because they never fail to make me feel pumped. To the point where I used one of their records, Floating Coffin, as the soundtrac when I ran, and I was able to reach I think at that point my best time for 5 kilometers. Relatively speaking, at the very least.

I never knew people could listen to live bands and not try their records out for years, very interesting.

I really want to go to gigs but what scenes they have here are by bands of the modern pop-rock variety, and what international acts do come, it's always the most popular ones like Coldplay. I always look out for the festivals though, sometimes there's a band or two I'm interested in but so far, none that I think warrant the $100 festival ticket. Though I see your point about trying out bands that I haven't heard the records of, that's what I do with recordings too. Maybe when I do get into a festival with that one band I'm willing to fork $100 for.

I think it's quite unique, people on RYM aren't your average people, but since it's all about rating stuff, I would think people would listen to records more than know them from live performances through the years. Then again, I've seen people here who list and rate live bands and their performances, maybe you're even the person I'm speaking off with that list.

I think the only wrong time to listen to Thee Oh Sees is when you're planning to drift off to sleep, they're one of the bands you can count on to pump you up every single time. Then again, I haven't delved much to their earlier records from their OCS days and their first two records as Thee Oh Sees where they're more off a weird, psychedelic folk band, or so the genre tags and reviews here would claim. What kind of workout do you do with music? I'm thinking of listening to my stuff while on the gym too, but for now, I think it'll serve more to distract me when I do my routine. I'll be sure to let you know whenever I get around to finally seeing a live act, and I'm looking forward to your impressions of Thee Oh Sees.
