Art: The art is gorgeous. This is probably my favorite pixelart EVER, and I just can't bring myself to get sick of it. Every detail is extremely well done, and this is probably the best part of the game. The only part I didn't consider >perfect< (totally my own opinion) are the sprites. The backgrounds are so detailed and beautiful that the sprites gets a little bit behind. But just a little bit, really. Battle System: A lot of people didn't really like it, but I had a fun experience from beginning to the end, even tho it was surely too easy. It mix elements from Super Mario RPG with others from Final Fantasy's/Chrono Trigger, and it does it amazingly. In this regard, it's a wonderful experience for the ones who enjoy old-school RPG's. But again, it might be too easy if you are experienced with this genre. I did 100% and didn't die ONCE. Out of Battle Gameplay: The gameplay is absolutely fun. The puzzles might be too easy, but the mechanics involving them are really cool, mostly the one which you can control the Sun/Moon. About the map, the boat and the flying part, it was good enough, i guess. Nothing much to it, but the art is so beautiful that you don't even really care about it. I gotta say, it doesn't have anything really special about it, but it surely exceeds every other J-RPG that I've ever played. Soundtrack: The OST is full of flaws. I'm going to separate this in three parts, but before, I'd like to point something up. Even with it's flaws, it's inexcusable how they managed it on key moments of the story, mostly at Garl's death. It took away so much impact because while he was dying on the volcano, there was a little happy music on the background :D. Seriously, this is TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE, I just don't get why they made it like this (actually I do and will talk about it in the end). OST before Brisk: I've mixed feelings about this part. It could be because of the announcement of Mitsuda's participation, which certainly left my expectations extremely high, but the ost here just didn't get me. Actually, *It was making me overwhelmed to the point where I had to turn down the music volume a bit. It wasn't good at all, mid musics playing in a endlessly loop. OST Lucent to Mesa: Totally ok, but again, with the fact that Mitsuda was working on this, I surely expected A LOT more. On Lucent's island (the one that has ghost stuff etc), it's totally ok and pleasant, but nothing more then this, and my opinion on this regard is the same up to Docarri Village. When you get to the tower, it gets better and when you gets to Glacial Peek it gets amazing, but it doesn't counts because it's recycled from The Messenger (really amazing tho) Mesa Island and foward: The OST on Mesa Island gets SO MUCH better, it's incredible the difference. I don't know why, but after this point of the game, every OST sounds less generic and involving. It surely has it's flaws, but still is remarkable. Characters: This is getting too long, so I'll try to sum up the things here a little bit. The characters, except for Garl, are TOTALLY HOLLOW. I'll limit myself to talking about Valere and Zale. I didn't get attached to them at all, even in the very end of the game. They don't have real emotions, express what the really think (and when they try, Serai just interrupts them and the boss battle begins or something lol), and don't even have a proper relationship between them. Do they think of each other as brothers, as a couples or as something else? I don't know, because they aren't explored at all, and this is surely the main thing that annoy me in this game. An RPG where the characters aren't well developed or express their feelings. What a big letdown. Story: The main story is kinda lame because of the problems with the characters that I mentioned earlier, so I won't say nothing else about this. But the others stories, mainly the ones that you read on Teaks' books and Resh'an's story are REALLY cool. They add so much to your understanding of the game's world, it's incredible. Every time you get a new relic, you are eager to read the book on the campfire. Nothing much to say about it, but I really liked! About EVERY problem I've mentioned here: I'm pretty sure they are existent because the game's production was rushed, I can feel it. I surely don't have any arguments, but I see so much wasted potential in a lot of things that I can't help but think that time schedule was the problem. I surely hope that they improve a lot of things through updates. So, what do you think? Do you agree with something that I've said, or I'm just totally wrong? Let me know, I'm eager to hear another persons' feedbacks about this game. Ah, and just a reminder. Before downvoting just because you don't agree with me, just remember that I've played 40 hours of this game in like, 4 days? So yes, I totally loved it even with it's flaws. TL;DR: The game is amazing and surely one the best JPRG ever done, but it has so many flaws that you'll surely get annoyed with at least some of them. (Just my opinion btw).
