First really got into music in middle school where I was into Green Day, The Offspring, Nirvana, etc. Got introduced to metal a little while later with Metallica and White Zombie. Really started appreciating drummers and eventually started to like Rush in high school, which also led my parents to buy me a drumset when I was 16. Then a friend of mine said, "If you like Neil Peart, you'll LOVE Mike Portnoy." Then I listened to Dream Theater and my musical life changed forever. I became obsessed with prog. In the late 90's/early 00's I bought so many albums from the Magna Carta label (Shadow Gallery, Dali's Dilemma, Explorer's Club, Liquid Tension Experiment, etc) and I was wondering where this kind of music had been all my life. I was a prog snob for a while and then expanded my horizons a bit with some electronic music, Indie stuff, Metalcore, or whatever else caught my ear. Now I like to think I have pretty diverse tastes but I'm always trying to get into different genres. One of my passions is discovering new music and this site has been an amazing resource throughout the years.

As for my lists...I don't give ratings (too hard, and you can pretty much tell how much I like an album from its ranking and my review) and I stop modifying my yearly lists at the end of January. So, my Album Rankings of 2014 list will no longer be touched by me after January 31st, 2015. I like to keep my lists "in the moment" and be able to look back and say "I liked THAT album that much in 2011? Really?" Plus, it would be a lot of work to constantly update my lists. Also, if you discover a new artist/album from any of my lists, PLEASE let me know. I love getting people into new music and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when someone discovers an artist/album because of my recommendation.

My username comes from the song Time Consumer by Coheed & Cambria. I figured it was fitting because a) that is one of my favorite songs of all time, and b) a lot of my time is consumed by music.
