By the mid-1980s the mod revival of 1979 had gone deep underground and was the preserve of a handful of bands and a few small mod/mod-friendly independent record labels. The Purple Hearts trajectory was exactly this experience. Long gone were the heady days of being on a major label, hit singles, TV appearances and headline tours around the UK.
Pop-ish Frenzy is a long-forgotten gem of an album. I must admit to not liking it at the time and my original copy is sadly long gone. This then 16 year old thought it was lame and wimpy compared to the brasher and punkier debut Beat That! which I'd been regularly rotating for years. I remember this being quite a common feeling amongst us band of mod die-hards.
Fast forward 23 years and this album sounds like the missing musical link between the great psychedelic pop of the 1960s and the popular late 1990s post-britpop neo-psychedelia of The Coral and and host of other indie bands.

crazy price, but it doesn't really surprise me. Seems any halfway decent condition O.G pressing of any somewhat good Jamaican album costs at least 40 us dollars.
