Salve, Agente Rosso. I finally checked out your suggestion for my BADASS metal thread, "Pay to Die" by Death Strike, and I'm afraid it did not do a lot for me.
This is a bit too low-fidelity for me, really. I generally enjoy a little more 'meatiness' in my metal. The guitar tone succeeds in that particular department, but everything else is paper-thin.
The other thing is, this doesn't feel much like a metal song. It's aggressive in the exact same way a punk rock tune would be: plenty of howl, but little bite (I love punk rock, mind you).

nope, I hadn't. I did the Crying of Lot 49 for starters (my brain always wants to say the Crying Lot of 49), because short and cuz GR is long and reportedly a bit tough. It was really good. I felt kind of crazy by the end of it. Now I'm a hundred-something pages through Vineland, which i'd heard was a more accessible one of his, and really liking it. So far the guy just bums around California smoking weed, which is also apparently the vibe of Inherent Vice, which I might do next (then I'll probably get to the earlier, denser stuff, although Crying of Lot seemed pretty dense to me)

i kind of can't believe i was so intimidated by him, because his writing is really connecting with me... says he who hasn't read Gravity's Rainbow yet. I'm not discounting that his more challenging works will be...more challenging

also bleeding edge sounds appealing to me, and i remember reading that he referenced MGS or Kojima in it lol. kinda weird for an 80 yr old

i somehow only read Twain for the first time this last year, and I've only read the two big ones. Huck Finn was soooo good.

now I'm kind of interested in some of the authors that get grouped with Pynchon, like Gaddis, and maybe like Delillo... you read The Recognitions first, or just start with JR for Gaddis?

writers im still too scared to read: joyce. proust. dante, milton probably a lot of old ass poetry.
