The Simpson family is faced against Mr. Burns and his seemingly endless army of goons across Springfield when his right-hand man Waylon Smithers accidentally kidnaps Maggie in the midst of escaping from a jewelry store robbery.
This is one of those arcade machines you can still find in bowling alleys to this day (the one I used to visit is where I discovered this game.) As far as I can tell, this is the earliest Simpson's tie in game, meaning we have their designs from season one which explains why the graphics are pretty weak here as (let's be honest) the first season didn't have good animation for the game to work off of.
Thankfully the gameplay more than makes up for the weak presentation as you can chose as either homer, Marge, Bart or Lisa (or a combination of them in the multiplayer mode) to beat up the other members of Springfield just for the fun of it (there is an in-game explanation for doing so, but it's convoluted and not worth mentioning.) As you can imagine with an arcade beat em up, each character has a unique move set which encourages experimentation with each character, this naturally made the game stand out from its contemporaries which the game didn't need to do given how it’s an arcade tie-in to THE show of the 90s.
If you can track down a machine, give this a go as it’s a ton of fun to this day.

Nothing better demonstrates Springfield's inconsistent layout than this game putting Moe's Tavern six stories beneath a cemetery at the end of an underground elevator.
As someone who enjoys playing a lot of simple brain-dead beat em ups single player on emulators, I found this one pretty boring playing by myself, I think most of the fun from this comes from playing with a group of people
