fwiw they've mostly gotten more accessible as they've gone on. Stuff from like Teeny Shiny or so and on are really more extremely frantic rock than they are approaching punk or metal like early stuff does. It's probably a good case of "go with most popular" and start with cell-scape or fetch. Both are also extremely catchy so that'll probably be a good draw.

lol yea it's a trip. I really wish agata was in more bands or did more solo work because his guitar effects are def one of a kind.

There used to be an online archive with mp3s of roots live shows from 93 onward; sadly, it no longer appears to be available, and not even the wayback machine is much help. I think it was pulled sometime in 2012, probably something to do with the Roots label. If you have slsk a few of the shows are floating around out there.

Have you read any pynchon before? I haven't been reading too much lately, but last I read was Twain's Mysterious Stranger which was predictably great and also I've been attempting to read Gaddis' J R which is extremely well written and almost impossible to consume. Only Pynchon I've read is Gravity's Rainbow and Bleeding Edge but both are very recommended.

I feel like I'm in a pretty decent state to read joyce because J R and some beckett I've been reading has me in a sort of state where I really care more about the process and the sort of ephemeral/transient emotion than some grand understanding and development. Like, J R just moves from one scene to the next with a lot of very beautiful writing. and yea I started with J R. i wasn't even super aware of gaddis as much more than a figure when i got the book to be honest.

the kojima reference is real slick too. it's not like some hokey "well gotta figure in some sort of pop culture thing here that nerds would use"
