Looter shooter

A type of shooter game that includes level/progression system and a high level of loot drops (such as weapons or currency) when killing enemies. The systems are heavily inspired by diablolike games, but adapted to the shooter setting (usually in first or third-person view). These games will often contain multiplayer co-operative modes and may have MMO-like elements. The genre was popularized by Borderlands and later with games such as Warframe and Destiny.
