In Street Fighter V, players join iconic warriors on a journey to thwart the nefarious Shadaloo organization and test their skills against a fresh generation of fighters in this high-stakes tournament.
A really fun fighting game with good focus on fundamentals aided by easier execution and limited combos. Diverse, enjoyable cast and a nice visual design to keep things easy on the eyes.
Online is complete trash. It takes longer to find a fight than it does in through nintendo's infamously terrible online for super smash bros on the 3DS, released two million years ago by my watch. There's trouble connecting to a stupidly high number of lobbies, and even '3-5 star connection quality' matches often run like complete arse. When it works, though, it's fun.
The 'survival' mode is shit. I see the appeal of an AI-battling mode, but instead of making the difficulty levels represent the difficulty of the AI you'll be facing, they instead dictate both that AND how many mindless punching bags you have to go through before you get to the tough enemies. Mindless padding at its absolute worse.
There's a video of a baby beating story mode by pressing buttons idly. Apparently they're adding a proper story mode soon, but they could've at least made story mode the least bit challenging. Complete waste.
I've always quite liked trials. They're a nice blend between a tutorial as to your character's capabilities and a minigame in and of themsevles to get your execution up to scratch.
It's a shame the demonstrations added to teach players the basics of the various characters are videos and not interactive in any way.
Overall, a good game in a terrible package.

this is why i use backloggd. everything is separate because they aren't just "updated versions of the same game." differences between the different versions of Street Fighter 2 for example are so drastic that nobody plays entries like World Warrior anymore unless that's all you have.
the graphics, roster, balance, music, game speed, glitches, etc. will vary heavily between versions. like you can't just go to a local and be like "yeah guys so i know this was supposed to be a super turbo session but i forgot it at home, but i brought World Warrior" and expect a positive response because they are completely different games. hell, different entries of Street Fighter 2 don't even run on the same hardware.
and it's funny 'cause that's something I dislike about backloggd. all those are modified or updated versions of the same game, and are oftentimes advertised as such by the publisher.
being a 3rd strike gamer, i cant get over how atrocious the art direction is here. the entire game is so devoid of personality. lifeless UI, safe character designs, forgettable music. that being said, the game is fun enough to play, at least at a low level
