Firewatch 2016
Charming walking simulator with a few caveats. The story leans too much on red hearings. Lots of clues that lead you to think something deeper is happening, but it isn't. Makes you feel deceived and disappointed. The dialog is charming sometimes, full of banter between the MC and Delilah. But they also can come across as too much of a character sometimes. One too many one-liners and a bit of performative spontaneity. Pretty good overall, but I hoped for a bit more.

My first console was the Nintendo 64 and
Super Mario 64 was my first game. Since then I've been a big fan of Super Mario, with Super Mario Galaxy being my favorite of the bunch.

But despite my love for Mario, the game that impacted me the most as a kid, the one that sparked an everlasting passion for video games, was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which still is one of my favorite games and my favorite Zelda.

The scale of Hyrule seemed massive to me and the secrets and mysteries it held were unending. So much so that my sister and I weren't able to finish the game at the time. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time showed me the power video games have to create worlds.

The next title that left a big impression in my young mind was already in the PlayStation 2 days. Before having the system, I went to a friend's house who had it and watched him and his cousin play Final Fantasy X. I was awestruck.

It was very weird for me that a video game seemed so focused in its characters and story. There were so many dialogue lines, so many cutscenes... And I loved them all. Final Fantasy X showed me the power video games have to tell stories and explore characters.

I had to wait a while before my sister decided to buy a PS2 with her first job's pay and then I had to save enough cash to buy the game. When I finally played it on my own, I fell in love completely. I loved the world, I loved the characters, I loved the story... I even ended up liking the turn-based combat.

Since then I never had an experience as impactful as these, which doesn't mean I didn't find plenty of games to love or get surprised by. Games like Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, Shadow of the Colossus, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Super Metroid, Mass Effect, The Last of Us, System Shock, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil 4, Dark Souls, Mirror's Edge and many more...

I'll never stop looking for new games to love ❤︎
