Pacific Drive

Probably the most visually stunning game of the year thus far

13 hours in and this is an early contender for GOTY, love the streamlined vehicle building and the survival elements are spectacular, extraction mechanic and the dynamic constantly shifting world sets you up for a lot of really tense and exciting moments. story seems alright so far, but the worldbuilding reminds me a lot of the better moments of control. curious to see how the gameplay amps up beyond the opening zone

absolutely loving this game, cant wait to see how it ends

-the story is mediocre and is told in a very annoying way, it's very hard to pay attention especially if you're esl and the you have to read subtitles when you're running away from a killer storm and you have three very uninteresting characters yapping on the radio,

-the ui is quite possible the worst Ive ever seen in a videogame, and I've played everything from critically acclaimed AAA games to niche indies.

-I don't like handholding but this game does the opposite and it takes a while to figure things out. I was very close to asking steam for a reimburse because I was wasting a lot of time

and even with all that, I had a blast playing the game because the atmosphere is fantastic, the "creature" design is very creative, the core loop of the game is masterfully crafted and addictive, and that car really becomes your best friend

The story sounds like some kind of Road movie-themed version of the movie Stalker

super cool concept and atmosphere but man this got repetitive pretty fast. i think the roguelike kinda angle they took didn't really work well for me and the game has a bit too much micromanaging and all the mechanics keep piling onto each other and it just feels like too much sometimes, some of which were just straight up annoying
