Moonlighter is a good take on the shopkeeper genre (which is pretty niche), and brings in roguelite elements when it comes to the procedural generation of the dungeons. The game it reminds me the most is Rogue Legacy, which is likewise a fake roguelite as it features permanent upgrades that are vital to advance through the levels. The need to upgrade is perhaps one of the issues with this game, because the difficulty remains mostly the same throughout the whole thing, except enemies have bigger health and damage.
Gameplay is top down, that reminds me a lot of zelda. The ranged option is incredibly overpowered as it rains the same amount of dps and nowhere near as much danger to you. Bosses are unique affairs, but have limited attack pools and arent all that difficulty compared to dwelving through the dungeons.
Back home you can sell your items at the price you want, but there is an optimal price to be discored for each of them, and finding this is the most elaborate thing you will do at the shop keeping side of things.
The story is a bit dumb, but it doesnt really matter.
Visuals have this incredible pixel based style, with fluid animations and good hit feedback. Music is just decent.
Its honestly a really addictive experience, so its actually good it isnt all that long. Had a lot of fun with the gameplay loop of this one.
