Dr. Mario

i adore dr mario’s core gameplay, but this probably isn’t the best way to experience it. which is a shame!! the spritework is awesome and hip tanaka’s tunes def sound incredible here in their original chiptune form, especially chill

it rly just comes down to the quality of life stuff. i feel like the controls aren’t as responsive as i’d like them to be, and this basically causes the later virus levels on high speed to be damn near impossible without some very lucky rng. like once a pill touches ground, that’s it lol

just like tetris, there’s rly not much of a reason to go back to these early iterations of puzzle games. in terms of game feel and playability, later versions have pretty much objective improvements that make these ones obsolete. obvs all the respect for being the original, but i’ll probably stick to dr mario 64 or the gba version
