Dropped

The first Bomberman was painful, but this here is better just off of less sluggish player movement and not having to bomb the entire map this time. Dying is extremely punishing though because its hard to recover powerups, and deep in the game you wont be able to get any back. The whole series has this problem -

If you told me one of the 3 to replay, itd easily be this one. I dont really want to see the other ones again. Its no 2D Sonic masterclass, but not bad at all either. However, some of the signature Dimps jerk game design is still there.

This game has a really nice gimmick, a musical shmup shooter! Its cute and really charming, but thats where my positive comments stop. You progress in this game by hitting shooting these music note collectables. Some times you have to hit a background piece to make them appear. However, a lot of the time especially later on, an enemy may pop out of this piece instead. Memorization will fix this, but it made me so discontent on the first playthrough that I dont want to play it again. That last level is just ew. If Im rating for the novelty and creativeness, its about a whole star higher. I think my opinion would be different if I had obtained this at the time of its release.
