Cube Escape: The Lake

The downsides are fairly obvious, if not particularly important for a free mobile/browser game - it's too short and too easy. The central motif of a fishing rod fetching things out of the titular lake is probably played up a little too much, while the only two times the game presents any challenge at all are when you have to work out exactly what the crowbar is for and exactly what the word 'mirror' means - neither is exactly taxing. The upside, which is very important, is that as the first game in the Cube Escape series (and, by extension, the Rusty Lake universe), it absolutely nails the atmosphere and mood of this world from the get-go. Being released on the same day as Cube Escape: Seasons (and directly advertizing it with one puzzle) gives it the feel of a teaser for that game, almost a playable demo of sorts; maybe it's best to view it that way, because you can then ackowledge that its only job is to get you excited to play more of the series. It certainly manages that.
