The aesthetics, music, and concept is a 10/10 for me. Buuuuut, the controls and physics feel off. I feel in love with original not just because the style, but how masterfully it controlled in 2D and the level design built on that. This doesn't feel refined in that department and not even close to how masterfully Nintendo does it in 3D for Mario. Something about it is not snappy enough. Level design is good, but some of it seems to have been put together in a week (which it was).

To everyone complaining 'wah! controls suck!' , this is a free bonus game that they threw together in literally a week, so of course it's going to be jank as hell. Don't take it too seriously.

Sounds like a 5th gen 3d game alright. You may want to avoid the original Tomb Raider games or most PS1 3d games if that's a deal breaker.
Guess that most of ps1 games are much lesser oriented on precision and not a big concern there

The better ones were more forgiving, but still kind of jank by today's standards. Not even saying you're even in the wrong if you didn't grow up with them. Just saying the dev's probably did that semi-intentionally. It'd be a problem if they were asking money for this.
I have the biggest issue with the camera. I can never get it to zoom in or zoom out when I'd like, making a lot of situations a lot harder than they should be. It's still a really cool freebie game, but after a bit of playing and the novelty wearing off, I realized I'd rather just play Lunistice lol
