Gameplay loop of explore half of an area, die, respawn and get stuff, come back to house, die during night event, have no credits to buy stuff repeat, is not very fun.

Berry good, berry frustrating. This game isn't "fun" its mostly tedious and punishing. Once you get over the initial hump and figure out how to balance your status bars the gameplay loop is very satisfying and reveals a beautiful and detailed world to get lost in. I played this game blind, got stuck in a death loop on day 4, restarted, and fixed my mistakes and it was very satisfying. Insane that a small team of russian guys made this. Antonin Artaud is directly referenced and Nietzsche is implied with the philosophy of overcoming, so read those guys to understand the world that Pathologic 2 occupies.
