Hey there! Relatively new to RYM-ing, but I noticed that you're a bit of an LPD fanatic. I've been listening to them somewhat obsessively for a month or so - would like to know what you think about the two Shadow Weaver albums - on first listen I think they're masterpieces. The Prophet Qa'Spell really couldn't do wrong from Tanith, Maria and the Shadow Weaver period. Having listened to everything up to and including Malachai, what can I expect from the rest? I can't possibly imagine the man doing better or summing up his abstract playground more succinctly than on these four. Read your write-up on a forum page and thought it was excellent! Thanks! : )
Hey woodchaz, nice to hear from you. I thought I would reply to you once I have a clear mind. I too have moved. Moved back to India actually. It's weird to feel like a stranger in one's own country. I see that you are reading Marxist analysis. Just a tip from a fellow reformed libertarian: Marxist analysis looks cool initially but is mostly senseless tripe. I'm sure you are realizing that. Just don't tell RedZep :)
I definitely agree with you on the subject of Black Metal. Question : Where are all these Nazi skinheads from the 1980's/early 1990's hiding today ? Answer : they have grown their hair, and are hiding away in the Black Metal "legions". I was reading an interview of the guy who manages the French BM record label Drakkar productions - and he ended the interview by saying : "I'd like to do great things - like Adolf Hitler". And there was no irony in it. What worries me the most, though, is that all these youngsters try to make Nazism acceptable - it's like "any other political opinion", to them. Fuck no, it's not acceptable - never will be.
LOL. As someone who spent 5+ years in Austin, I can relate.
I actually saw them live at Emo's back in 2001
