I simply don't seem to get all this mess of newly coined genre-pastiches - that seem more like post-internet jokes to me than genuinely forward-thinking music - at least not as much as the hype suggests. I may appear anachronistic, but that's probably symptomatic of an ongoing disgust with the present-day cultural tendencies. But then again, they are certainly not without their charms and aesthetic relevance.
You know a song I discovered? I never got why people thought that Elliot Smith's song were so sad. I always thought they were kinda too cute. Until I heard Heatmiser's version of "Christian Brothers", recently uncovered, which I've listened on a loop dozens of times. There is true desperation hid in it.
