In all seriousness: Damn, you showed me! I now feel a little dumb and I have an urge to give you a proper reply… and I will. Til then, have a nice day!

    My full fledged reply:
I have to apologise for several things:
    1. For not explaining to you what you didn't get
    2. For obviously being a hypocrite

    1. To make this thing long: I am at a point in my life, where I am tired of negativity. Things like "Honey, I shrunk the kids" are silly fun for me. That film especially reminds me of my childhood, especially due to the set design and set lighting.

In my current state of mind, I become really enraged when I read overly negative reviews, opinions, and statements, because I feel like being sent off my path in my life right now i.e. enjoying it. That, very obviously and needlessly to explain, is my own problem, that I have to deal with. But alas, I am human and therefore weak and selfish. I wrote that comment (and the follow-up) in a moment of weakness and uncenteredness. I am working on it and I can only apologise for being a dick.
But still, I don't like your review, because of it's negativity. It just comes across as you're not seeing the fun in that film. But I alsoadmit to the obvious fact, that not everybody is the same and not everybody enjoys the same things.
I try not to be negative anymore, because I find it a waste of time. Of course I don't always succeed.

    2. You rightfully pointed out the hypocricy of my Armageddon review. I am currently (as you can see in my profile) starting to edit old bullshit reviews and giving them edits in the colour red, so that all the bullshit is still visible. I guess I want to show people that I can change. Armageddon has not been edited yet obviously. Infact, that review should be unpublished. It's wack.

To end this thing on a positive note: I really love your X&Y review (even read it to a date recently; we both laughed) and your Sticky Fingers review. Keep it up and sorry again.

    Greetings, Niko

    Hey J.,

no, I think you got me wrong in that review. I don't think art shouldn't be taken seriously at all. I just think that one should be careful not to take art too seriously. One thing I learned in art courses at uni is that art should explore unfiltered and also despicable emotions because they are very real. These emotions shouldn't be hidden because I think that's unhealthy. The world would be a much better place if people would be more honest and open. Some stuff is absolutely taboo (issues such as gender, sexuality, fetishes etc) and unrightfully so.

I do however agree, that art directed at kids have a tremendous responsibility and it shouldn't be taken too lightly. And even in "Honey, I shrunk…" there are quite a few things that annoyed me (the way relationships are depicted here seems highly unrealistic to me, but that said: I know only of very few films that depict interhuman relationships pretty accurately). Ultimately people who actively raise children have the responsibility.

I never used to accepted nostalgia as a positive impulse either, but I have accepted it as part of me. I don't think it harms me, as the only reason it affects me so much is because it reminds me of other times in my life when I was very happy. And reliving that can be really nice. Of course one has to be careful not to live in the past too much because it's the present that counts and the future that one should concentrate on. Still, my memories can be a blissful experience and after all: Experience is what has made me what I am today. I am grateful for my past experiences.

    Greetings, Niko

Hey you. No, not doing his Bobness on this tour. The last time I saw him was just so awful (a night of Bob doing Frank Sinatra karaoke) that I couldn't bring myself to repeat the experience; I am guessing he'll just be doing an evening of cover versions again, and his reworking of his old songs to "fit the mould" was particularly cringe-worthy. I'll probably end up reading a review and regret it bitterly, but that's Bob for you; sometimes utterly brilliant, sometimes spectacularly car-crash dreadful! :-)

Yeah, I get that. I probably rate it 3 stars, but might've been more if I discovered it in my teens.
