haha, cuz it's secret-cret-cret-cret-cret-cret-cret. and i don't know, film isn't really my thing. i mean, i like it quite a bit, but it doesn't stir up a quarter as much passion in me as music does... so... i guess it'd seem inappropriate to let only that one other minor joy inhabit the same space as the major one, you know?
but food: now there's something i could put on the same page as music — rating and listing my favorite vegetables, restaurants, condiments.... that'd be swell.
yeah in terms of moving out of the larva state / becoming more self-reliant, i think learning to cook was probably one of the biggest steps forward for me too.
my girlfriend and i just started baking bread last week — it's amazing! i'd always been so intimidated by people telling me "oh, it takes such patience! you have to be exact in everything! you'll fuck it up a million times before you get one right!" but i don't know, so far so good. (i mean, fuckin' a, you know? we all hear the same guidance counselor speeches about not letting people tell us what's possible vs impossible, and then what do we do? we embark on wild adventures and scale great personal/academic heights and find cool jobs, but then, what, we can't make our own bread? because what?) we've got a starter fermenting in the kitchen right now; gonna make a sourdough loaf tomorrow : )
Hey hashes, watsup. You should follow this blog: idfilm.blogspot.com. It has great reviews, recommendations, and news updates. There's a message board too (http://idfilm.proboards.com/index.cgi). It's great. Most people there are socialists, so it's a great crew. You should join!
about guitar, I'm only particularly interested in modern classical guitar, all other guitar is just the common rabble
