Hello there. Thank you for the add. A few years ago I was going to see Gottsching preform "E2-E4" in its entirety at UCLA. But then last minute the show was cancelled. Probably my biggest concert-related disappointment ever...

wow, thanks for the fast respond. good to see you dig it since probably that is my favourite album ever created from the genre, even if it has it's typical prog-ish issues that almost every other prog-rock band had at the time (i.e. technical masturbation over songwriting).
btw why are you so fond of those country-esque cowboy music? i'm really tolerant (well... at least i'm tryin to be) for every genre from every country but that is something even i couldn't pass '_'

well i only tried bits of the album that you mentioned and i get a tad disappointed after i had to understand that it's not quite the same thing that john fahey or frantz casseus did (god knows why i thought it will be similar to them), it's more conventional and quite not had that natural beauty that both of the aforementioned musicians reached. fortunately, i give it another chance today and it's surprisingly heartwarming in a way that can only be compared the movies of john wayne or maybe the early clint eastwood-era. it's really simplistic and yeah even childish at times but despite or because of this i can relate this far more than most albums i passed in the past months. quite something that i cannot imagine but coming from only america.
btw why don't you rate movies too? :ˇ

yeah you're right with the "developing knowledge" part, as far as i'm into it finding an obscure movie mostly a much harder and slower process than do the same thing with an album. but that's not the only thing, i mean, even listening to obscure stuffs like something from brötzmann or les rallizes dénudés can be an emotionally satisfying enjoyment, and this is really something that are mostly missing from obscure cinema. and you don't even have to go to the deepest levels to sacrifice this, even watching stuffs from famous directors like bergman or antonioni can be difficult. most of the time it's really more like understanding and analyzing psychological or technician aspects than simply enjoying a piece of art, and you only get some kind of emotional satisfaction at the end if you can resonate these characters, topics, visuals or situations that the movie trying to talk about or showing you. ok, i admit it's may not that exacting that i present here but i think i'm not exaggerate when i'm say that being a music geek are a more reasonable hobby than being a movie nerd. : >
