I think you're right. I bought Live At The Witch Trials when it first came out in '79 and hated it with a vengeance. I got tired of people telling me what a great band I was missing so nearly 30 years later I bought myself a copy of 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong and have been kicking myself ever since for not sticking with them. Coming at them so late has had one benefit though - I'm not stuck in this argument about which Fall period is best. So I agree the Fall of the nineties are excellent - but then The Fall from any period are excellent
Hey there! The painting in my Fourth World list is by the German artist Mati Klarwein. He did a number of album covers, most famously "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis and "Abraxas" by Santana.
